DV Visa few Q's Hi Administrator,
First of all, I would like to thank you for your generosity to share your experiences on this forum.
I am a srilankan too, but I am living in London.
Last year on the very last moment I applied for the DV lottery and I won. My visa number would be current in March.
Still I do not have very strong mind to move to the US, because we are well adapted to the British system and the Britain has better welfare system such as free education, free health services etc. I know in the US the case is different. But in contras we believe that we have less affordability here such as housing etc even though we get better salary. They are very expensive and the bills are very high compared to the US.
I know the affordability plays a big role when considered the quality of life. However, since I live in outside of US, I need to have a clear picture about the true nature of it.
Therefore, could you please help me to find answers to these questions.
1) Average life in US with the basic needs, Housing, Employments, Schools, Health care etc. Do you feel that there are people struggle too much to make more money to have better life?
2) If you are a professional, like if you’re a lawyer, accountant, doctor, Engineer etc, do you think the life and opportunities are better for them?
3) How about the general social acceptance as an outsider and new?
4) In the scale of 1 to 10, where do you stand compared to where you were before?
5) Finally, where is the best place (state and city) to live, given priority to the Sri Lankan community?
Please forgive me if I made these questions harder to answer or If I use your time too much.
I understand that it could be too early for you to answer these questions.
I wish you all the best in US.
