Default AOS approved Chicago DV 2005

My AOS has been approved. This board has been very helpful and thought this is my time to give back to the new AOSers. We also had email communication with a small group of people having similar cases.
That helped as well because you feel more comfortable disclosing your personal info with the small group. In my experience if you have clear records, AOS is the best.

I save time and money doing AOS. People in this board always suggest to go for CP because there have been some unsuccessful AOS cases. There are thousands of unsuccesful CP cases, but you never hear their stories in this board.
My number was really high (AS 100XX) and became current in AUG, but still decided to do AOS. The whole AOS process was done in less than three months. Here is what I did. I did not hire any attorney. The dates could be one or two days plus minus.

Receieved NL June 5, 2004 (Was in F1 visa)
Intend to AOS- send to KCC Sept, 2004 (OPT)
Asked local USCIS office in Oct if I can file application. They asked me to wait until my number becomes current
My number was current in Aug (published in june 05 visa bulletin)
Sent applicaton to Chicago lockbox around the third week June for myself, my spouse, and child (Had H1 visa when I filed my application)
Received Notice of Action around July 5th and was asked to call USCIS for fp appointment
Did FP around July 16th
Got interview letter around Aug 8th, the interview was scheduled for around Sept 9th. During our interview we saw that our files were labelled as "SPECIAL HANDLING DV CASE". We were notified rightway that our cases have been approved

Got approval and welcome letter last week (Sept 13th). The letter says the cards will be mailed within three weeks.
Thank you all who posted the experience and answered my questions.
